I am your voice

Your voice for Ward 8

A Responsibility I take very seriously

When residents bring an issue forward, they should not have to wonder whether anyone is listening or what happens next.

Sometimes the answer will be straightforward. Sometimes an issue will take time. Sometimes the solution will involve the Region, the Province or another agency.

Whatever the situation, you deserve to know where things stand.

I am your voice.

Ward 8 deserves a councillor who listens, works hard and follows through.

FAQ

I am running because I believe Ward 8 needs strong, thoughtful and accountable representation at City Hall.

I want to bring my experience in leadership, strategy, governance, education, communications and community engagement to municipal government and do the work the role requires.

Being your voice does not mean promising to agree with everyone. It means listening before taking a position, understanding the issue, asking difficult questions and speaking up when something matters to Ward 8.

It also means being honest. If something can be done, I will work to move it forward. If it takes time, I will tell you. If there is a better approach, I will listen. And if an issue falls outside the City’s authority, I will not pretend otherwise.

My priorities are (i) Safety, (ii) Affordability and (iii) Quality of Life because these are the things that affect how we experience our community every day.

Safety means paying attention to the streets, intersections, sidewalks, parks and public spaces where people live and move.

Affordability means being responsible with public money, understanding what the City is spending, and making sure residents receive value for the taxes and fees they pay.

Quality of Life means maintaining the neighbourhoods, infrastructure, parks, transportation and community spaces that people depend on, while planning responsibly for the future.

No. And I do not believe residents should be told otherwise.

Municipal government has specific responsibilities and limitations. Some issues are shared with other levels of government, while others fall outside municipal authority.

My responsibility will be to understand where an issue belongs, work with the appropriate people and agencies, advocate where appropriate, and keep residents informed.

The City cannot control the price of groceries, mortgage rates or many of the costs affecting household budgets.

But City Council does make decisions about property taxes, fees, spending, infrastructure and services.

I believe public money should be treated with respect.

That means asking:

What are we spending?
Why are we spending it?
What value does it provide?
What will it cost over time?
Is there a better way?

Mississauga is growing, and Ward 8 is part of that change. The question is not simply whether we grow. It is how we grow.

New development can bring housing, investment, businesses and opportunity. But growth also creates demands on roads, traffic, transportation, parks, recreation, infrastructure and public services.

Development needs to be considered in the context of the community around it and the infrastructure that supports it.

Bottom line: Growth should serve the community; not happen to it.

No.

I think residents deserve better than promises that may not be realistic or may fall outside a councillor’s authority to deliver.

What I will promise is this:

I will listen.
I will prepare.
I will ask difficult questions.
I will work hard.
I will follow through.
And I will tell you the truth about what can and cannot be done.

Being your voice does not mean agreeing with everyone.

It means listening carefully, understanding different perspectives and making decisions thoughtfully.

People should be able to know where I stand, why I have taken a position, and what happens next.

I will be honest about it.

If an issue falls under the Region, the Province or another agency, I will help identify where responsibility lies and, where appropriate, work with the people responsible.
